Dr. Macy is Chief of Orthopaedics at Mansfield Orthopaedics at Copley Hospital. He specializes in treating disorders and injuries of the shoulder, including arthritis, instability, rotator cuff tears, and total shoulder replacement. Dr. Macy is the only Vermont orthopaedic surgeon who is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society and is a founding member and current Vice President of the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society. A graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Dr. Macy performed his internship and residency at the University of Vermont – Fletcher Allen Health Care and completed the Transcontinental Shoulder Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and in Zurich, Switzerland.
He currently serves as a U.S. Ski Team physician and with the National Ski Patrol at Jay Peak in Vermont. Dr. Macy is also the Vermont Medical Director for Best Doctors Occupational Health Institute, a community of clinicians dedicated to improving the quality of care available to employees with work-related injuries. He enjoys a variety of outdoor sports, most notably road biking and endurance mountain bike racing. Dr. Macy and his family live in Shelburne.
